Angola is a large country and following the advent of peace, the population and business have expanded in all provinces. Unfortunately the infrastructure development has not kept pace with this expansion. This has led to a severe shortage of medical care services and facilities.
Air Ambulance Service
The focus of MEDFLight service is medical evacuations, within Angola by helicopter or fixed wing back to an appropriate medical facility in Luanda. if deemed necessary we can evacuate patients to more sophisticated facilities in South Africa or repatriate patients to the country of residence.
The service is a bed-to-bed service for both internal and international evacuations and includes ambulance services at both origin and final destination.
Our highly qualified medical team which comprises a medical doctor, intensive care specialists, surgeons and highly qualified nurses, all with ATLS/ACLS training. An appropriates medical team accompanies the patient throughout the evacuation. All team members are FLight Medline certified and we maintain state of the art Advanced Life Support and INtensive care equipment.
We have a transport incubator, which enables us to evacuate new and premature babies and a trauma ultrasonography unit, blood gas machine and ECH machine, are available to perform a wide range of tests on-board the air ambulance.
The Malta Cross Foundation currently accredits our air ambulance service and we follow the strict requirements and recommendations of AMPAS - Air Medical Physician Association and CATMS.
MEDflight has a dedicated Cessna Citation V Ultra jet, based in Luanda. In addition, agreements have been established with several aircraft providers, to guarantee the availability of an aircraft. For internal flights, twin engine aircrafts, with the capability of landing on short runways or dirt runways are utilised. We have access to a LEar Jet 35 and a Falcon 900 o assist with long distance flights.
However, due to local flight restrictions, we can only guarantee internal flights between sunrise and 15h00. For international flights, we are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
Our goal is to streamline the availability of emergency medical care with just one phone call to our multi lingual Call Centre which is open 24 hours per day every day of the year.
Use of this service is not subject to membership or monthly subscriptions.
